The new Google Pixel phone has finally arrived. Google launches two variants, the Google Pixel 4 and the Google Pixel 4 XL.
• New and improved Google Assistant The new and improved Google Assistant is meshed deeply into the Google Pixel's software, allowing quicker response time. The Assistant on Pixel 4 will now support continued conversations, this is the time this feature has been introduced in smartphones. This allows users ask a follow up question to the Assistant without having to pause to say another word. • Specs and Performance The Google Pixel 4 and The Google Pixel 4 XL packs Qualcomm's flagship Snapdragon 855 chipset which is well complimented by the 2 GB RAM addition to the phones. This generation of Google Pixel is the first to have 6 GB RAM, allowing the phone to compete with it's other Android rivals. The Google Pixel 4 and 4 XL run Android 10. There are a few additional features. The Pixel Launcher has a shortcut to pull down the notification shade by swiping your finger. Pixel Themes app is another addition that will let you choose your font, wallpaper, accent color and more. • Display The Google Pixel 4 and 4 XL have OLED panel. The Pixel 4 having 5.7 inch screen and the 4 XL having a 6.3 inch screen. The displays on the Pixel 4 and 4 XL are 90Hz display, also known as Smooth Displays by Google. It ensures higher refresh rate and smoother experience when playing games or when scrolling through your phone.
• Sensors According to Google, The Google Pixel 4 and 4 XL have the fastest face unlock system on any smartphone, this is made possible by the introduction of Google's new motion sensing Soli chip. Google ditched the fingerprint sensor and instead went ahead with two face unlock IR cameras, a dot projector and a flood illuminator. Google also introduced Motion Sense, that allow the phone's to sense users' motion. Motion Sense can detect three things; pressence, reach and gestures. Presence detects whether you're near the device, if you are, it will power on the always display mode otherwise it will power if off for battery preservation. Reach will wake the phone to display the lock screen if you move your hand towards the screen. Gesture is the most important feature out of the trio, it allows you to change music, silence alarms, timers and hang up calls just by waving over your headset • Camera The Google Pixel 4 has a main camera of 12 MP (f/1.7, 77 degree field view) and a new 16 MP telephoto lens (f/2.4, 52 degree field view) The Google Pixel 4 XL has a main camera of 12.2 MP and 16 MP camera offers 2x optical zoom and a hybrid zoom of 8x. Live HDR+ is new feature embedded into The Google Pixel 4 and 4 XL. This allows users to preview the image, ideally what you see before the shot is what you get after. Google is introducing astrophotography in The Google Pixel 4, the Pixel 4 will darken and denoise skies using computational photography. • Charging The Google Pixel 4 has a battery capacity of 2800 mAh which is very unsatisfactory if you're looking to go through the day without charging your phone, though the phones support fast charging with 0-50% battery in 38 minutes. The Google Pixel 4 XL has a battery capacity of 3700 mAh which is much better than Pixel 4. Both phones support wireless charging. • To buy or not to buy Definitely buy the phone if you want great photography and a full featured phone but you might want to think about it if you're looking for a more sleek flagship phone with an affordable price.
